Timberwise are extremely pleased and proud to have been the Timber Repair Contractor of choice to inspect and repair the oak framing to the conservatory at the Henry Moore Foundation.
We were contacted directly by the Foundation to carry out an inspection of the decaying oak cills and mullions of the Conservatory building that is used in the shop area of the Henry Moore Foundation.

A specification was produced to replace sections of the oak with same species and moisture content oak and to repair other sections with resins/carbon fibre plates.

All the glazing panels had to be removed to enable the timber replacement works to be carried out and then refitted and sealed.
The shop area was in use during the process of the timber replacement work and there was no loss of trade as our programme of works was designed to produce the minimum of disturbance to the client.
The fungal decay had been caused by the gutters being set too far back on the glazing panels of the roof and in very heavy rain conditions, the rainwater was overshooting the gutters.
We therefore repositioned the gutter system on oak packers to allow the rain water to be collected in the gutters and discharged via the downpipes.
The end result was a sympathetic timber repair that complimented the aesthetic and architectural values of the building.
