About Barrie Francis

Barrie is a highly experienced specialist in dampness diagnosis, condensation control, and building moisture management, bringing over 38 years of construction industry experience to his role as Training Director at Timberwise. His career began as a bricklaying apprentice, before progressing through a range of senior roles including site foreman, contracts manager, and general manager, giving him a deep and practical understanding of how buildings perform and why moisture problems occur.

Drawn to the technical challenges of building pathology, Barrie moved into the property preservation sector, achieving both CSRT and CSSW qualifications through the Property Care Association. Over the years he has developed particular expertise in diagnosing complex damp and condensation issues, helping property owners and professionals understand the root causes of moisture problems and how to resolve them effectively.

As Training Director for Timberwise, Barrie plays a key role in developing the technical knowledge and surveying skills of the company’s teams. His passion for accurate diagnosis and practical, cost-effective solutions ensures surveyors are equipped to identify the real causes of dampness rather than simply treating symptoms.

Originally from Ticknall, Derbyshire, Barrie works closely with customers providing clear, honest advice and robust specifications to protect buildings for the long term.

Outside of work, Barrie enjoys spending time on the golf course, always looking to shave a few strokes off his handicap.
