About Steve Iddon

Steve is an experienced timber decay specialist and surveyor with extensive expertise in diagnosing and resolving issues such as dry rot, wet rot, and other forms of timber decay. With a career in the property preservation industry dating back to 2004, Steve brings both technical knowledge and valuable hands-on experience to his role as a Surveyor for Timberwise.

Steve began his career as a joiner, developing a strong understanding of timber construction and building structures. He later progressed to become a remedial technician, carrying out specialist treatments and repairs to tackle timber decay and damp-related problems. This practical experience has given him a detailed understanding of how fungal decay develops within buildings and the most effective methods for treating and preventing it.

Keen to build on his practical expertise, Steve went on to achieve the Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments (CSRT) qualification through the Property Care Association. He also achieved a credit in the timber module, a notable accomplishment that highlights his depth of knowledge in timber defects and decay.

Steve is responsible for surveying properties and supporting customers, where his hands-on background enables him to accurately diagnose timber problems and provide clear, effective specifications to ensure long-term protection for buildings.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys spending time with his family, getting out for walks and days out, and keeping active in the gym through weight training.
