    Basement Waterproofing Specialists in Edinburgh

Persistent damp smells, peeling finishes, mould growth, staining, or water ingress can all indicate moisture issues below ground level. These symptoms often become more noticeable during wet weather or in poorly ventilated spaces when damp problems surface.

Waterproofing a basement requires more than surface treatment alone, but addressing the issue early can prevent structural deterioration and improve the usability of the area.

Any below-ground space could need waterproofing, including basement conversions, cellars, garages, and structures that are only partially below ground, such as those built into hillsides.

As experienced basement specialists in Edinburgh, we assess the condition of walls, floors, drainage, and groundwater risk before recommending a suitable system. Our approach ensures the waterproofing solution works with the construction of the property and provides long-term protection.

Type A Waterproofing and Basement Tanking in Edinburgh

Type A waterproofing, often referred to as tanking, uses barrier protection applied directly to below-ground surfaces. Basement tanking creates a waterproof barrier directly against walls and floors to resist moisture penetration. This method is commonly used where external water pressure affects internal surfaces.

Type A solutions are suited to certain basement environments where water resistance is required at the point of entry. They also work well when used as part of a combined waterproofing system alongside Type B or C waterproofing.

We install basement tanking systems in Edinburgh as part of a tailored waterproofing strategy designed around the property’s construction.

Type C Waterproofing and Drainage Systems

Type C waterproofing manages water by controlling and directing it away from internal spaces. This cavity drainage system allows moisture to enter behind a membrane before safely moving it to drainage channels or sump pumps.

Type C systems are widely used in basement waterproofing in Edinburgh, where long-term water management is essential.

Where groundwater management is required, sump pumps form an important part of the waterproofing system. These pumps collect and remove water from drainage channels to prevent build-up beneath the property.
